Today’s detox recipe is a citrus mono meal. The stars of our mono meal are grape fruit and orange. Some of the benefits of this specific meal are :
- Very low in saturated fat
- No cholesterol
- No sodium
- High in dietary fiber
- High in potassium
- High in thiamin
- Very high in vitamin A
- Very high in vitamin C

4 Large oranges
You could eat the fruits directly or extract the juice and have it or blend the fruits into a smoothie. I would personally recommend eating the fruit or have the smoothie as you will also get the added benefit of fiber within the fruits.
Grapefruit is a wonderful health food and has many benefits. There is a reason it is part of many weight loss regimens. Grapefruit has lots of soluble and insoluble fiber that fills you up. Some studies have proven that the mere smell of grapefruit reduces the feeling of hunger. It also contains pectin which can help reduce cholesterol. Incorporating this wonderful fruit as a part of regular diet is very beneficial , to your cardiovascular health. Grapefruit is loaded with vitamin C, and research has proven that consuming more of citrus fruits can help you lose pounds.
Despite all of these health benefits, there are some risks associated with the consumption of grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Certain chemicals in grapefruits, like naringin, and other less common compounds can negatively interact with various drugs and cause damage to your organ systems. Please consult your doctor to be completely aware of potential drug interactions with grapefruit juice in your diet before beginning to incorporate grapefruit into your daily diet.
Orange is one of my favorite fruits. It contains an impressive list of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals for normal growth and development and overall well-being. Oranges, like many other citrus fruits, are an excellent source of vitamin C (About 53.2 mg per 100 g, about 90% of the daily nutritional requirement)
It is also a very good source of B-complex vitamins such as thiamine, pyridoxine, and folates. It also provides you with a good deal of fiber which helps your overall digestive health.
